The whole time I was on this trip, my mind was completely blown by the fact that despite being broke as hell most of my adult life I've managed to visit Hawaii on three separate occasions. That is seriously amazing. The things I've been able to witness through embracing my artistic inclinations are truly humbling. I even had a lot of firsts on this trip: swimming topless in a cove I had to climb into, a sunset booze cruise (the head was terrifying), learning to surf, and finally visiting Pearl Harbor. I also got to see my old friend Rick again! I hadn't seen him since his last trip to Las Vegas which happened to line up with my own. And before that it had been even longer. I really hope I can make it to Maui one day. That's the last island I have on my bucket list.
